Some kids at school have tagged me emo because I like black... HELP?

Ok, so I am into My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco, so kids at school have branded me 'emo'. I have black hair and nails, like wearing black clothes and listening to 'emo' music. But does the really mean I'm 'emo'?


So, i asked some peeps if they think I'm 'emo'. Apparently, some chick in the seventh grade has told everyone i have been slitting my wrists and thats why wear jumpers all the time! I've been going to thius school for 5 years and apparently


she has said i was slitting my wrists for 3 whole years! I have been wearing black nail polish lately and i like it, so i should be allowed to, but i've been branded 'emo'!


I have asked a few girls what defines 'emo' and they just said "You"! so i dont really know





would u guys plz tell me what you think 'emo' is. and if u think what my descrption is about me up the top defines 'emo'

Emo stands for emotional. Most emos usually think they're life is crap, but you sound happy wth yourself. Who cares what some 7th grade idiots think, I think you're awesome because even though peopleare saying this you haven't backed down from wearing and listening to what you want to. Just do, be and wear what you want. Anyone who says your stupid doesn't deserve your attention :)

Reply:Emo is people who hate themselves. I don't know why they are branding you as emo if you like good music and black clothes.
Reply:Well, it may suck, it may not be easy, but once you accomplish this, it'll make you feel better about everything. And that is to stop giving a crap what other people label you as. Second of all, none of those bands are even emo. And when I was a kid, all black meant you were goth. Some real emo bands are things like Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral. So just tell them that. Tell them that what you listen to isn't even emo so they don't know what they're talking about. Check out these bands!

Reply:well you sort of have all the right things the balck nail polish's and stuff although just beacsue you wear the "emo" stuff dosn't make you emo they shouldn't label you as anything emo's are people that are unhappy and angry i listen to all the music like bullet for my valentine and all that and i sometimes get called emo i just laugh it off its just them been lame who cares what they think, if you say your not emo your not emo. There's nothing wrong with emo's anyway and fallout boy and all that are awesomee so you have very good taste in music i reckon

Reply:everybodys definition of emo is diferent, and those that dont think youre emo will think youre something else. my advice to you is to stop caring about what other people think and say about you. if anybody ever asks you if youre emo, just say im me. thats all it is, unfortanetly some people like to classify everybody into certain categories. but thats their fault, dont worry about them.
